Cattaraugus County Fire Chiefs Association Scholarship

Monetary Award: 1-$500.00 award.

  • An applicant must be either be and active firefighter or the daughter /son of and active firefighter

  • a disabled firefighter or the daughter /son of a disables firefighter or

  • a daughter /son of a deceased fire fighter

Applicant must meet following criteria:

attend school in the Cattaraugus or immediate area.

have a 2.5 cumulative average through high school

participate in extra curricular activities  of community service nature

Write and essay -500 words detailing "what Volunteerism Means To me"

Pat McGee Endowment Scholarship

A scholarship fund created in memory of former State Senator Pat McGee will begin issuing awards this year. Established at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation by family and friends of Senator McGee, the Pat McGee Endowment seeks to carry on the Senator’s mission of improving life in the Southern Tier.

Monetary Award: two $1,000 scholarships will be available to students in Senate district 57 who intend to pursue nursing, at any school, through the Community Foundation.

Eligibility: The 57th district includes Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties as well as Groveland, Mount Morris , North Dansville, Nunda, Ossian, Portage, Sparta and West Sparta . This award is available to both traditional and non-traditional students. Students must maintain at least a C average in order to be eligible for this award.

New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators Athletic Scholarship

Monetary Award: two $1500.00 scholarships

Bryson Frank Memorial – Caring Professional Award

The Caring Profession Award is in memory of Byson Frank and is a yearly award in the amount of $500.00 (cash award) for a Salamanca Central High School Senior who is pursuing a career in a caring profession.

A caring profession is considered one of the following fields: Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice (Police officer, Investigator, etc.) Medical Field (EMT, Firefighter, Nurse, and Doctor), Teaching, and Counseling (Guidance, Mental Health, Family, Marital, etc.).

Monetary Award: $500.00 (cash award)

 

Eligibility:

  • Graduating senior from Salamanca Central High School going into one of the above mentioned caring profession fields.

  • Must have an average of 80 or above.

Submit a typed essay of at least 500 words that mentions what field you are going into and why you are choosing that field.  This essay should also discuss an event in your life that has allowed you to help someone and explain how you helped them and what difference you felt it might have made to them, as well as the effect it had on you.

The Kyle Stephen Scott Memorial Scholarship

Monetary Award: $500.00 to at least one student/year

The criteria for selection will be based on the 6 traits that best exemplify the life and spirit of Kyle. They are: character, compassion, sincerity, community service, drive for academic success and athletic participation. Additional consideration will be made for the student who may have the greatest financial need.

Monetary Award: $300.00 per Year for 4 years

This  is open to any Salamanca Student that is interested in applying for this scholarship.  Student will need to write an essay describing what they have done while in high school.  This should include all activities both school related and those outside of school.  Also they should include what their future educational plans  are such as what they plan on majoring in college as well as where they plan on attending. The students should also explain why they think they would be deserving of this scholarship.   

All completed essays should be turned into the guidance office by May 9th 2:30 PM

James Keenen Memorial Scholarship 2008

The James Keenen Memorial Scholarship is for any senior graduating from Salamanca in June of the current year.

Monetary Award: $100

Deadline:  Turn your completed application in to the Guidance office by May 9th, 2008

Anyone who is interested should complete an essay that tells the committee about themselves. This should include what you have done both in and out of school.

Also include in the essay a discussion of how English has affected you and what influence it has had on you as you have progressed through High School

Mr. Keenen was a very passionate English teacher. Reflecting on how English has affected your life or your years in school is very important.

You also need to explain what you will be doing once you graduate.

Ron Brown Scholar Program

On behalf of the CAP charitable Foundation (USA)

For academically talented, highly motivated African American students who are currently senior in high school and plan to pursue undergraduate degree full-time. Students must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident visa cards.

Monetary Award:

$10,000 a year for four years

Deadline:

Two Dates

November 1st : will be eligible for Ron Brown Scholarship and other scholarships

 January 9th : will be eligible for Ron Brown Scholarship only

Student Integrity Scholarship

 

The Better Business Bureau “Student of Integrity Award” recognizes a college bound student in their senior year of High School who exemplifies the Bureau’s standards of ethics and integrity. It is open to High School Seniors who plan to attend an accredited college or university in the Fall of 2008.

Monetary awards:

Two students who reside in the Upstate NY area will each receive a $1000 scholarship.

 

Definition of Ethics: the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral

duty and obligation

To Apply:

1. Please fill out the entry form in its entirety.

2. Answer the following essay topic: Please describe to us in 500 words or less an

ethical dilemma you faced and its outcome. (No fictional anecdotes will be accepted)

Procedure

Please submit 6 copies of your application and essay. Send all parts in one

Criteria: Applicants will only be evaluated on the merits of their essay. Decisions of the

Judges are subjective and final.

Burger King

BURGER KING® Scholars awards assist students who work part-time and excel academically. Since 2000, the BURGER KING® Scholars Program has granted more than 11,000 scholarships throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Monetary awards:

Awards of $1,000 each are sponsored annually by the fundraising efforts of Burger King Corporation, BURGER KING® franchisees, and our restaurant guests. An additional 121 BURGER KING® Scholars awards are also granted from the Foundation endowment to graduating high school seniors.
