Alternative Education Regents Program:

This program is for students who are capable academically of continuing towards their regular high school diploma. Small class size and individual assistance as well as pre-testing, discussion and teacher observation offer another option for students to have a second chance to obtain their high school diploma. The program is a four-year plan, but completion time may vary based on individual levels of success. The program will offer small class sizes with differentiated instruction concentrating on individual strengths for success. The program addresses the social and emotional student needs. Students in the regents program continue to be eligible for the high school athletic programs as well as all other extra-curricular activities.

Alternative High School Equivalency Program (AHSEP):

This program is for students who are at least 16 years of age (maximum 19) and have finished the school year in which they turned 16. An AHSEP student application must be filled out to make sure the student is eligible for the program or an Application for Variance filled out and submitted to NYSED for approval. Students will be given the TABE test to determine their reading and math levels. Students will receive instruction in the areas of reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and life skills. Students who enter the full day program will spend half of each day in a workforce preparation component (e.g. career and technical education, career exploration, internships, integrated curricular materials, work experience). Students in this program continue to be eligible for the athletic programs at the high school.

Parents and students interested in the Alternative Education Program must contact their Guidance Counselor to arrange a meeting. Students must meet all eligibility requirements and the Alternative High School Student Support Team and the High School Principal must approve all applications before students enter the program.
