Consultant Teacher and Resource Room

When a student has an Individual Education Plan, (or IEP), as a part of their regular education classroom, they are provided with services to continue their academic success in school. 

The least restrictive services that can be utilized are:

 
Consultant Teacher
Indirect vs Direct
 
Indirect Consultant Teacher is when the Special Education Teacher assists the general education teacher in adjusting the learning environment and/or modifying his/her instructional methods to meet the individual needs of the student.
 
Direct Consultant Teacher is when the Special Education Teacher aids the student to benefit from the general education class instruction.

 
Resource Room
 

Provides specialized supplementary small group instruction.
 
This supplementary instruction is provided in addition to the general education classroom instruction that the student receives.
