Mrs. Clayson-This week we have continued to work with our Density Kit.  We learned that the more dense an object it, the faster it will sink in water.  In reading we read a story about advertisements.  We are making our own ads to convince kids to eat more fruit.

Mrs. Peters’ class has been working on measurement in math.  The students measure items in centimeters and millimeters.

Mrs. Langworthy  - Intense preparation for the State Science Test continues each day.  In our Plant Unit students read about the function of the various plant parts, photosynthesis, pollination and fertilization of a plant.  We spent a couple of days exploring the properties of magnets and how a compass and electromagnet work.

Miss Mendell – In math, we began learning about decimals.  The students learned how to change decimals to fractions, how to compare decimals, and how to add and subtract decimals.  We also began a science unit on Density.  The students learned to measure the mass of solids and liquids using a double pan balance.

Mrs. Baldwin’s class is beginning to study plants and how they are essential to our environment

Mrs. Beattie’s class is thoroughly enjoying their Electrical Circuits unit.  The entire class has become young scientists who can’t seem to get enough of it.   Many students are improving on their multiplication facts, as well.

Mrs. Windus's class is very busy preparing for the NYS Science test which will be given in the first week of May.  In Science we have started doing a unit on powders and crystal.  We are testing different substances to determine what they are.  In Math, we are comparing and ordering fractions as well as adding and subtracting them.   In Social Studies, we are working on reports on Revolutionary War heroes.  We are creating power points that we will share with each other.  In Reading, we read the tall tale "McBroom and the Big Wind".  It was a comical story about how McBroom broke his leg.
