Events so far this year Open House We helped kick off the new school year by sponsoring the Open House cookout with hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks. Parents were invited to come in and meet their child’s teacher before the start of school and have a bite to eat while they were here. We hope to continue this next year. J
Cookie Dough Fundraiser The students at Seneca recently sold cookie dough as a fundraiser to help raise the $$ to complete our playground. They did a great job and we would like to thank everyone who purchased cookie dough or helped their child sell it. The original plan for the playground included the equipment that has already been purchased and also a large playweb and a climbing boulder. We are continuing to raise money for these two items in addition to the completion of the turf and a border around the entire playground. Congratulations to the class pizza party winners: 3rd Grade – Mrs. Slater 4th Grade – Mrs. Baldwin 5th Grade – Mrs. Leavor Halloween Dance October 25th saw all the ghosts and goblins come out a little early for the Halloween Dance at Seneca School. With the help of some scary decorations and sound effects the entrance to the cafeteria set the stage for our Halloween Dance. Parents signed in their “monsters” and then the fun began. In addition to dancing in the gym the students could also participate in Karaoke which they really enjoyed. Many of the parents even stayed and watched the Karaoke or helped in the dance area. The price of admission included pizza, drink, and a cookie for dessert. Thank you to all the parents who helped it run smoothly by staying to help and signing your child in and out at the end of the night. Thanks to all of the Seneca Staff who chose to come and enjoy a night out with their students. This year’s dance was a real scream! Holiday Store This was new for our students this year and it seemed to be a hit. During the week of December 10th the students had the opportunity to purchase a variety of gifts for their friends and family during the school day. They went by class down to the music room which had been transformed into a holiday shop for the week. There they were able to choose from a variety of gifts for everyone in the family. Once they had made their choices they headed to the cash register where they rung out and their purchases were bagged up. They also had the option to get their items wrapped for free if they chose to. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped during the week and we look forward to doing it again next year. Christmas Cash PTO helped teachers get a “little something” for the students during the holidays. Teachers have the option of purchasing something to give to the students or to do something as a grade level. The Fourth grade team chose to take their students bowling at Central Lanes followed by a slice of pizza and some pop. Upcoming events and fundraisers Spring Candy Sale We will be selling Niagara Chocolate as our Spring Fundraiser. This will be our last fundraiser of the season and proceeds will go toward the purchase of the final playground equipment pieces. This fundraiser will run January 7th thru January 30th. If you wish to purchase Chocolate you may email tbocharski@salamancany.org for more information
We hope to see you there J
