The Kyle Stephen Scott Memorial Scholarship

Monetary Award: $500.00 to at least one student/year

The criteria for selection will be based on the 6 traits that best exemplify the life and spirit of Kyle. They are: character, compassion, sincerity, community service, drive for academic success and athletic participation. Additional consideration will be made for the student who may have the greatest financial need.

This  is open to any Salamanca Student that is interested in applying for this scholarship.  Student will need to write an essay describing what they have done while in high school.  This should include all activities both school related and those outside of school.  Also they should include what their future educational plans  are such as what they plan on majoring in college as well as where they plan on attending. The students should also explain why they think they would be deserving of this scholarship.

James Keenen Memorial Scholarship 2006

The James Keenen Memorial Scholarship is for any senior graduating from Salamanca in June of the current year.

Monetary Award: $100

Anyone who is interested should complete an essay that tells the committee about themselves. This should include what you have done both in and out of school.

Also include in the essay a discussion of how English has affected you and what influence it has had on you as you have progressed through High School

Mr. Keenen was a very passionate English teacher. Reflecting on how English has affected your life or your years in school is very important.

You also need to explain what you will be doing once you graduate.

LELIA E. TUPPER WRITING SCHOLARSHIP

All high school seniors and juniors are encouraged to participate .n the competition for this scholarship. The first-place winner Till be awarded a scholarship of $1,000 for each of the four years It Alfred University provided he or she enters the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and maintains a minimum of 3.0 index each rear. Should the first, second, or third-place winners apply to Alfred University, their application fees will be waived. While >only one scholarship is awarded every year, first, second, and third-place entrants will receive prizes intended to help them begin their college careers. In addition to the scholarship, the first-place winner receives a $50 cash award, which can be used for college textbook purchases. The second and third-place winners receive books, which will be of value to any entering college freshman. These prizes will be awarded regardless of whether the winning students decide to enter Alfred University.

The procedure for the competition is as follows:

1. Manuscripts must be submitted in both of the following categories:

a. Creative writing: 4 poems or a short story or a play, or a mixture of these genres;

b. Expository writing: a critical essay or a personal essay.

2. Partial or incomplete manuscripts (missing la or lb above) will be disqualified.

Dorothea Deitz Memorial Scholarship Grant

Woman in Physical Education in New York State offer the Dorothea Deitz Memorial Scholarship to provide financial assistance to selected women students planning to major in Physical Education.  This scholarship is a memorial to Dorothea Deitz, an outstanding teacher, supervisor and director of physical education for many years in Schenectady and Long Island.  

Award:  The 2006 DDMS Scholarships will be grants to three deserving students in the amount of $6500.00, $5500.00, a
