Wear YELLOW or ORANGE for positive friends & parental support

Wear PURPLE for healthy activities, spirituality. AND, today is Hat Day for a fee of 50 cents.

 
SOS and ACDC will be sponsoring a new spirit week, Getting Stronger Week, for grades 9-12, May 6-10. Each day will have a color designation representing one of the 8 sources of strength. See the chart. There will also be various activities throughout the week to reinforce positive behavior. On Tuesday anti-bullying videos will be shown in the auditorium during lunch. On Wednesday, after school at Central Lanes, there will be a Bowl-a-thon sponsored by ACDC and SOS. Cost to bowl is $15 per person with a portion of the proceeds going to Relay for Life. Open to students and adults, sign up is in the Jr./Sr. High School office. Throughout the week, SOS and ACDC  will be selling bracelets and candy grams during lunch periods. Finally, on Friday, there will be an extended homeroom, followed by speakers for the first part of the day and then “Minute to Win It” activities with teachers and students playing against each other. The “strongest grade level” will get to be first to compete against the teachers during Friday’s competition.  

  • The Business/Marketing Dept. is hosting a Volleyball Tournament May 22 at 5 pm in the Jr/Sr High gym. $30 per team of 6 plus $5 for each additional player. Prize for the winning team. Come join the fun!

  • Algebra 2/Trig Regents review sessions will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday in Miss Singer's room from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Mrs. Magiera
Jr./Sr. High Staff Member of the Month for May is Mrs. Magiera!
 She is currently in her 23rd year teaching in Salamanca. She has taught English at many different grade levels and also was a special education teacher for a few years. Currently, she teaches English 12, English 9/10 Recovery, and A.I.S. She is also a co-advisor of both the Junior Class of 2014 and National Honor Society. Mrs. Magiera was nominated by high school Senior Ally Revetti who had this to say: “She really tries to make learning fun and at the same time gives us seniors a taste of college and life after high school.”Congratulations, Mrs. Magiera!
