S.T.E.A.M Camp Course Offerings:
STEAM History Camp - grades 5-9
This project-based camp will immerse students in ancient Greek, Europe and Egyptian art, technology and culture. Students will study the science behind Greek pottery, investigate the physics of Medieval catapults and learn the chemistry of mummy wraps.
Seneca Language, Culture & Technology - grades 7-12
The Senecas or Onondowagah were highly skilled at warfare and renowned for their sophisticated skills at art, technology and culture. In this camp, students will learn basic Seneca language as they simultaneously explore Onondowagah technology and cultural heritage.
STEAM Entrepreneurship Part I - grades 7-12
This 3D Printing summer camp taps into the entrepreneurial potential of high school students. Students will work with a group of peers to design and prototype a new product and solve real-world business challenges in viable ways
Maker Electronics Boot Camp - grades 7-12
In this exciting 4-day camp, students will learn how to read basic schematic diagrams, how they are used to design and build circuits and use common electronic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopse found on Maker Spaces to analyze electronic and electro mechanical circuits.
Impressionism Art, Language & Technology - grades 7-12
Monet, Degas and Van Gogh: these artists are among the masters of Impressionism. Come and learn more about the modern technology associated with Impressionist painters while creating your own works of art!
Robots and Coding - grades 5-8
In this camp, students will learn to code a spherical robot through drawing, block, and text coding. Students will explore various types of communication and relate them to the ways they can communicate. As students start to learn coding, they will expand their knowledge of geometry and physics concepts.
ELA Accuplacer - grades 8-12
Coming to Salamanca are college-credit STEAM programs. Students can dual-enroll in JCC coursework if they achieve a satisfactory JCC Accuplacer Test score. In this camp, students will review the content of the Math and Reading Accuplacer Exams and take the test so they can enjoy college-credit coursework in Salamanca such as: CAD, MOUS, Zoology and Pre-Calculus. The JCC Reading Accuplacer Exam fee is waived for students who complete this course.
RC RACER STEAM CAMP - grades 8-12
This RC STEAM Camp is for the students that participated in the after school RC CLUB in 2018 or 2019. Students will be making any needed repairs and modifying their trucks. The trucks will have new life in the form of a brushless motor, ESC, and radio system that will double their speed and torque. Longer run times will be achieved by adding LiPo batteries and chargers. A new body for a custom look will top off the truck, while learning advanced airbrushing techniques. When the work is done, it’s time to play, lets race! With all the jumps and track layout tubes, we will spend at least 1 day racing. Campers will also have a chance to see other RC vehicles to learn about and see demonstrations.
STEAM Fabric Design - grades 5-9
In this textile STEAM Camp, students will experiment with ultraviolet sun rays, as well as explore the mathematical concepts of color, folding, symmetry, and pattern. Students will learn sewing and fabric “resist” techniques. At the camp’s conclusion, students will leave with a variety of hand painted/hand-dyed pieces, including a pillow and a tie-dyed t-shirt.
Ohh Snap Circuits - grades 4-7
In this hands-on camp, students will learn the basics of circuitry while they construct original projects such as alarms, doorbells, and simple AM/FM radios.
Geology, Ecology and Hiking - grades 5-9
In this outdoor camp, students will explore trails and learn about the local ecology. Campers will engage in activities that emphasize basic ecological concepts about habitats, species identification, and how organisms and habitats adapt to changes.
Extreme Robotics with IOT Part I - grades 7-12
'Internet of Things'–is the internetworking of physical smart devices with embedded electronics. In this camp, students will work collaboratively with an Electronics Engineer to bring Arduino robotics to the world of IOT. Students will design and construct their robots by fabricating 3D printed materials, soldering circuits and integrating components. The result will be in a dynamic robot that can provide remote video feed and user controls.

In part II of the STEAM Entrepreneurship camp, students will continue to refine their prototype and solve real-world business challenges in viable ways
Math Accuplacer- grades 8-12

Kayaking, Ecology & Fitness - grades 5-9
Come take an in-depth and scientific approach towards exploring the ecology of Salamanca’s Allegheny River. As students learn the basics of open-top kayaking, they also will study and observe ecosystems, explore human impacts on the environment, defend against invasive species, and much more!
Extreme 3D - grades 5-9
In this exciting 3D printer camp students will learn how to design original 3D objects with TinkerCad that can be printed on our new Dremel 3D printers! Students will be given a brief overview of the historical uses of 3D printers in manufacturing and explore how to properly select filament types, temperature settings and troubleshoot common project mistakes as they create original projects!

Solar RC - grades 7-9
In this project-based camp, students will design and build a solar-powered car from scratch. The cars are then put to the test on a race day where they compete for the fastest design.
Coding with Scratch and Spanish 6-9
In this multidisciplinary camp, students will enter the creative world of coding using Scratch, a program that helps kids vis ualize and then craft code all while they learn basic Spanish. Scratch can be used to design original games, animation s, and interactive stories.
