•  WARRIOR PRIDE:
    ... And I'm a Warrior

Welcome Back from the High School Principal
    chris
    Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have been working to prepare and are excited to begin the new school year.  We have experienced some changes over the summer and our space will be limited until mid-October when the STEAM addition is completed. There will be a few new faces among staff due to retirements and resignations. I am amazed at the talent and experiences the new staff bring to the table, and look forward to them sharing their skills by creating new learning opportunities for our students.

The 2019-2020 school year is going to be an exciting time to be a Warrior. We are committed to providing cutting edge facilities for our students. The STEAM addition is an important step in providing this facility. Our main focus and goal is to maintain a safe supportive environment where our students can continue to flourish and maintain the academic growth we have shown over the last three years.

There were many success stories from last year. These successes were made possible by the dedication and desire of the parents, caregivers, staff and students who worked together to provide an environment that is socially and emotionally supportive, and academically structured and focused.

At the conclusion of the 2019 school year, our graduation rate improved to 85%. We again made significant gains in 8 out of 10 Regents exams; also continued to exceed 95% participation in the NYS Grade 8 ELA and Math assessment. These areas document the growth our students are achieving in the classrooms.

Most of our faculty and staff took part in Professional Development centered on Marzano’s Vocabulary Building, Explicit Direct instruction, and Safe and Civil Schools.  They realize that professional development allows them to hone their craft and sharpen their skills in preparation for the new school year.    This school year we will focus heavily on Health and Wellness as well as Restorative Practices.  We are looking forward to another great year!

Enjoy the rest of your summer,

    Mr. Siebert,
    High School Principal
    …and I am a Warrior!

Shared Decision-Making and Title 1 Funding

Shared decision-making (SDM) enables all members of the Salamanca community to become stakeholders in the process of encouraging meaningful learning and positive educational change. The district officials define shared decision-making as a process in which all members collaborate in identifying problems, define goals, formulating policy and implementing programs by consensus.  This includes the use of Title 1 funding.  Continuously SDM has empowered the Salamanca School to create and recreate a stimulating community environment for learning.

Each of our buildings participate in joint planning for the District. This is an opportunity to bring parents, administration, community, and staff together to discuss building level issues, collaboratively work to improve student achievement, and plan for the use of Title 1 funding.

If you would like to be a member, please contact your child’s school principal, or the Superintendent at 945- 2403.
