Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program:

If you have a child who will be four years old on or before December 1st of this year, Prospect Elementary School has a program for him/her. UPK offers half-day and a full session focusing on supporting and nurturing the child’s social, emotional, physical (large and small muscle groups), and cognitive development. The classes are taught by certified teachers and certified teacher assistants.

The partnership also provides an opportunity for eligible Head Start students to attend a five-day program at the Salamanca Head Start Facility on River Street. Students seeking admission must also be district residents.

All eligible students are admitted and if we exceed capacity program acceptance is determined by a lottery system. Registration packets are available from the Prospect School office as of April 1 each year.

Registering for the UPK Program for the 2020-2021 School Year:

Preschool/UPK:

Prospect Elementary School is accepting applications for the 2020-2021 Universal Pre-K Program. The program is open to all district residents’ children who will be four years old on or before Dec. 1st. Prospect Elementary plans on offering 2 preschool classrooms for the 20-21 school year. The classrooms will be full day classrooms with up to 18 students in each classroom. We recognize that some families may prefer the half day option and we are happy to provide that option as well. If there are more students than space available, acceptance will be on a lottery system. If enrollment numbers are high enough a 3rd classroom of UPK will be considered for either half or full day.

Kindergarten: If your child is going to be turn 5 on or before December 1st, 2020 they are old enough to be in our kindergarten classrooms. Registration paper work is available in the Prospect Elementary Office. If your child turns five on or before December 1, they may not be enrolled into a UPK classroom.

Pre-K and K Registration Fair: In April we will be having a registration fair to provide you with supports you may want in filling out your school registration packets. Please bring your ID, child’s birth certificate; shot record, proof of residency (lease, home ownership, letter from landlord, piece of mail with current address)
