Salamanca High School has partnered with Cattaraugus Community Action to form an “Alliance.” The intent of Alliance is to encourage student engagement, college preparedness, and to improve student academics, behavior and attendance.

Youth advocates Stephanie Brown and Melissa Johnson network closely with school staff, families, and the community to provide students the resources they need to be successful, including, but not limited to, daily mentorship, monthly family contacts, incentive-based enrichments, job readiness education, and community service.

Students invited into the program have been identified and referred by school administrators, counselors or teachers as in need of academic, social, or emotional support.

The Alliance advocates provide extracurricular enrichments, college tours and job exploration during the school year and throughout the summer. “Engagement is a key factor to the success of our students and Alliance strives to get students involved in creating their future,” Johnson said.
