As part of the Governor's Executive Budget, schools in New York are required to prohibit the use of internet enabled device (cell phones, smartwatches, etc.) on school property during the school day. Seneca Intermediate and Salamanca High School have been cell phone free for over a year but in order to comply with state requirements, a new policy has been developed, and the district code of conduct has been revised. The district has held public forums and conducted a community survey to gather feedback that went into the development of the policy and code of conduct revisions. The new policy can be found HERE.
