Over the weekend, Kasen Hardy represented Salamanca at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Wrestling Championships in Albany, NY, marking a significant milestone for the program. Hardy became the first Salamanca wrestler to compete at the state tournament since Brad Cunningham in 2014 and the first to earn a placement since Dusty Lewis achieved the honor in 2013.
Competing in the highly competitive 285-pound weight class, Hardy delivered an impressive performance, finishing 7th overall at the 2026 state championships. He compiled a strong 4β2 record across the tournament, with his only losses coming against the wrestlers who ultimately secured 3rd and 4th place finishes.
Hardyβs achievement highlights both his individual determination and the continued growth of Salamancaβs wrestling program, signaling a promising future for the team.
