As part of No Kid Hungry’s continuing effort to ensure all children in Salamanca remain nourished and healthy, the Salamanca City Central School District has received $15,100 in grant funding to help feed more children in the community.

“No child should have to struggle with an empty stomach or stress about when they will eat again. This grant will help reach more kids with the food they need to grow up healthy, educated and strong,” said Liz Lucas, Field Manager for the No Kid Hungry Campaign.

Summer can be a stressful time in our community, as families struggle with food security issues.  Our goal is to provide nutritious meals to children from both Prospect Elementary and the Seneca/High School campuses.

“We are excited to be partnering with the No Kid Hungry organization, to continue our mission to provide children with scratch cooked meals over the summer months”, said Karen Magara, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations.  “We have worked hard to move from heat and serve, to freshly prepared meals in our cafeterias during the school year.  This funding opportunity allows us to continue that work during the summer months. With NYS Child Nutrition approval for the new Summer Food Service Program also recently added to our District’s summer offerings, we look forward to feeding kids healthy and delicious meals all summer long.”
