Dream it Do It

On Saturday, March 18th, 6 girls from Salamanca travelled to the Olean Campus of JCC for CADIDI Girls’ Manufacturing Day. The girls, who were in 6th-9th grades, participated in many activities. The day started off with women with careers in local manufacturing speaking to the girls about their personal journeys and sharing inspirational words for the girls to create their own paths for their futures.

After the speakers, the girls broke up into groups. They worked on CNC machines making dog tags, role-played as quality control technicians as they analyzed paint samples, programmed using Hummingbird programming software and used Dobot robotic arms. The girls had an amazing time and are looking forward to more experiences like this. The topper to the day is one of the girls won a “Smart house” kit which they will be putting together after school in April and May to display at our STEAM fair on May 16th. In addition to building a model house, they will be installing a solar panel and using an Arduino board to run some electronic simulations. Thanks to Dream It, Do It for an excellent morning!
