WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPALS:

Kim Oakes Principal

Mrs. Kimberly Oakes

I am excited to continue our work together in my second year as the Principal at Prospect Elementary in the Salamanca City Central School District.  I value the relationships we have built, the work we have done, and what is to come.   It is going to be a great year!

The building has been busy with our summer program, the capital project, building updates and professional development.  Our dedicated Prospect staff have spent many hours and days reflecting, learning, and growing as we prepare for this upcoming school year.  We strive to be the best we can be for our students and families.  We have many building, curricular and staff updates to share with our Prospect families as we prepare for this school year.  Those updates will be outlined in our back-to-school letter that will go home to families.

This past year we worked hard to increase the number of opportunities for families to come to school to engage in a part of their child’s experiences.  Family engagement is still a top priority for us, and we look forward to providing more opportunities.  We are partners, working together to shape and impact our children at Prospect Elementary, to reach their full potential in all areas.

Our community picnic will be on Tuesday, August 29th this year, from 5:00-6:30.  We look forward to seeing everyone there as we lead into the 2023-2024 school year.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me, (716) 945-5170 (7126) or koakes@salamancany.org.

Mrs. Laura Route - Assistant Principal

I am thrilled to extend my warmest greetings as the new Assistant Principal of Prospect Elementary. It is with great excitement and anticipation that I join this remarkable school community, and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work alongside each and every one of you.

First and foremost, I want to express my genuine eagerness to meet all of you. I believe that a strong and cohesive team is the cornerstone of success, and I am looking forward to forging meaningful connections with all of you. Your dedication, expertise, and passion for education are the driving forces behind our students' achievements, and I am humbled to be a part of an already wonderful team.

A bit about me! I grew up in Rochester, NY and have enjoyed growing my educational journey for the past 12 years across three states where I’ve served in general education, special education, gifted and talented development, compliance facilitation, and as principal intern. I’ve focused on instructor development, differentiation of assessments and classwork, MTSS creation and refinement, and provided exceptional children mandates for state regulations. I enjoy hiking and skiing and currently live in Ellicottville with my husband, Peter and our pug, Louie!

I am equally enthusiastic about engaging with the broader community of Prospect Elementary. Together, we will encourage an inclusive and nurturing environment that supports the growth and development of every student. I firmly believe that collaboration between school and community plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience, and I am eager to build strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and community members to ensure our students' success.

As we embark on this new academic year, let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. With a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and fostering a love for learning, I am confident that we will have a healthy and progressive year together. I am committed to providing support, guidance, and encouragement to both staff and students, as we work collaboratively towards our common goals.

I am genuinely delighted to be a part of the Prospect Elementary family, and I am eagerly counting down the days until I can meet you all in person.

Here's to a fantastic year ahead!
