Dear Warrior Nation,
Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. The return of students to the District is always a celebration, but this September it is even more special. After over six months of COVID related delays and required closures, having children and staff physically back on campus is incredibly reassuring and joyful.
The return to active learning in our schools has been an “all hands on deck” event. Every member of our district has risen to this challenge. Our food service staff, teachers, nurses, cleaners and custodians, administrators, transportation staff, IT department, and counselors and social workers have made a firm commitment and pledge to adhere to three unwavering priorities:
- Safety
- Wellness
- Instruction
These principles are the bedrock of our re-opening plan. When we marry these elements together it has created a strong foundation for the Salamanca City Central School District to move forward with purpose, with compassion and with the well-being of everyone in the Warrior Nation as our priority. As parents, guardians and students, you too have a role in keeping everyone safe and well so that instruction can occur.
By press time for the Powwow, we will have relaunched low risk athletics (swim, soccer, cross country and tennis) as well as a number of clubs and activities. Our advisors have been steadfastly committed to our priorities of Safety, Wellness and Instruction. We all serve as ambassadors of these priorities and know full well our students, athletes and children are looking to us to lead by example.
Very soon, we expect to begin to phase more children in to return to campus. We need your continued assistance, conversation, ideas and to hear your voice. Please continue as you have, to reach out to your child’s teacher(s), counselor, administrator, driver, nurse, coach and anyone you feel comfortable confiding in. In a post-COVID world we must all work together to guarantee that there are no boundaries that impede communication.
