Healthy Kids

In April, Seneca Intermediate School proudly celebrated Every Kid Healthy Week, an initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness among students and staff alike. The week was filled with engaging activities designed to foster mindfulness, nutrition, physical activity, and community involvement, organized by Seneca Intermediate School's health teacher, Kaila Hager.

Mindful Monday kicked off the week with a focus on mental health. Students and staff participated in mindfulness exercises and were introduced to helpful apps like Calm, encouraging everyone to embrace relaxation techniques in their daily lives.

On Tasty Tuesday, the cafeteria area was filled with vibrant colors and delicious snacks as students sampled a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Guided by Mrs. Hager, students learned about the importance of nutrition and how to incorporate healthy foods into their diets.

Wellness Wednesday brought excitement as students rolled the physical activity dice. Each roll resulted in a fun exercise, from jumping jacks to squats, promoting an active lifestyle. Participants earned prizes and received handouts with creative ideas for staying active, reinforcing the importance of physical fitness

On Thoughtful Thursday, representatives from CCA set up a table during lunch, engaging students in conversations about healthy choices while our friends from Native Connections offered resources on the dangers of vaping and smoking during adolescence. The discussions highlighted the importance of making healthy choices and staying drug-free, empowering students to think critically about their health.

Finally, Family Friday invited families to come together for a cleanup of the Seneca School gardens. This community event helped us get our garden beds ready for planting but also fostered connections among community members, families, and staff. Reinforcing the message that wellness and gardening is a shared journey.

As the week concluded, the enthusiasm and participation from students and staff showcased the commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Every Kid Healthy Week was a great success! We look forward to continuing our focus on wellness throughout the school year
