Students in Mr. Frazerβs Life Science and Anatomy & Physiology classes are participating in a multi-day lesson on the white-tailed deer. The lesson began with learning
about traditional harvesting practices and cultural uses of the deer prior to colonization.
Today, students observed a deer processing demonstration in collaboration with Seneca Nation Gakwi:yo:h Farms staff Levi and Al alongside our Native American Curriculum Team. Later this week they will sample venison dishes as part of the journey from harvest to table.
This experience integrates NYS Science and Indigenous Studies standards while helping students build a deeper relationship with their food and understanding what it means to be food sovereign. ![]()
