Last week (March 17-19), students in our Civics Engagement Program traveled to Washington DC to advocate for federally impacted school districts.
Federal impact aid makes up for about 2/3rds of our budget and is vital for our success as a district. These students met with 6 different congressional offices to advocate for Salamanca and other districts all around the nation that receive federal impact aid.
It is our goal to make Salamanca one of the leading voices in advocacy for this program and believe that our students are the ones who should lead that effort.
This is a unique and rewarding experience that is open to all students who join the Civic Engagement Program.
