Margaret “Mickie” Deppen retired from Salamanca City Central School District in October after nearly 30 years of service at the elementary and intermediate schools.

She started as a substitute teacher’s aide before becoming a teacher’s assistant. In recent years, she helped with computers and technology at Seneca Intermediate.

“It’s been a great run but now’s the time for me to move on to a new chapter of my life,” she wrote in an email to colleagues. “I’ll surely miss the camaraderie I’ve felt being a part of the Seneca School community for the past 27 years!”

Superintendent Robert Breidenstein thanked Deppen for her dedication to the district.

“Mickie is a wonderful, amazing person,” he said. “She’s kind. She’s hard working. She’s collegial with everyone. She has a kind word for everyone. She’s very patient with adults and students who may need some TLC with computers and anything in general. We wish Mickie the best as she moves onto the next chapter of her life.”
